Shaqeel has been an active member of the Insight Chess Academy, run by Steinitz president Andrew Talmarkes. He represented the academy in the Under-17 Mixed category, where his team secured 3rd place . Additionally, he was recognized for his excellence in chess during his Grade 10 year at Protea Heights Academy, achieving 1st place in the school’s chess rankings. Recently he guided his school team to a podium finish at the Top Schools competition. Shaqeel’s involvement in both individual and team events reflects his dedication to the game and his potential for future growth in the chess community.
