Bernard Dubbeld is a South African chess player who returned to competitive play in 2024, taking part in several tournaments in Cape Town and contributing actively in the local club league.

As a junior, Bernard represented KwaZulu-Natal Schools in 1994 and 1995, and later the KwaZulu-Natal Under-20 team at the South African Junior Chess Championship in 1997. These early experiences gave him a strong grounding in competitive play and interprovincial team events.

After a long break from the game, his return highlights both his commitment to the sport and his ability to compete steadily under tournament conditions.
